Team Read gives children the encouragement they need during the summer to stretch themselves in terms of reading, a goal with long-lasting results. It also gets them using their local library and finding out great tips from their librarian coaches!
Once the kids get into the habit of reading, you'll soon see the benefits.
This website has been set up to complement the Team Read Summer Reading Challenge in Libraries.
It gives kids extra games and activities that help them to find out more about children's books and authors, and share ideas for new books to read. They can even keep a log of the books they've read and get awarded on-screen bronze, silver and gold medals for reading 2, 4 or 6 books over the summer.
Reading books is like a work-out for the imagination - and like any kind of exercise, it's addictive!
For more information about Team Read and some tips to help your children complete The Summer Reading Challenge™, click on this downloadable PDF. Remember, there's plenty going on for adults, children and families at your local library throughout the year - not just in the summer - so check it out. Books are just the beginning...
You can also download some Team Read activity sheets here and there may be more on offer at your local library. Please ask - your librarian will be only too happy to help.
